Free ART Classes for Kids
The Whidbey Island Arts Council runs a series of FREE art classes for children, 8 to 12 years of age. We target underserved children of the island and then open the class seats left available to all children in this age group island wide. We provide art supplies, snacks, and art supplies for the children to take home. Contact Kay Parsons for information. |

ISLAND CONSORT
Something of an "accidental pianist," I returned to music a few years ago after a 20-year hiatus. I perform western classical chamber music, extemporaneous keyboard meditations, & offer piano lessons & performance coaching for teens & adults. I have also been known to provide musical direction for theatrical productions and I produce concerts and events via my chamber music organization, Island Consort. Langley Arts Fund
The mission of the Langley Arts Fund is to act as a catalyst for action by community members in the support of public art. The Arts Fund Committee will focus on the acquisition of private funds for the beautification of Seawall Park. The Park consists of almost 1 acre of undeveloped waterfront and an improvement and artistic enhancement plan for the Park has been developed by the City of Langley. |
One Moon StudioOne Moon Studio is an online concert and interview platform. Our mission continues that of the Whidbey Island Guitar Festival: to feature and increase awareness of the work of both regional and international artists with audiences on Whidbey Island and around the world. We offer a place for people of all different artistic and cultural backgrounds to come together, enjoy music, and perhaps learn about each other.
"Music can change the world because it can change people." ~ Bono Our primary focus will be on instrumental musical artists, although the interview platform will include programming with painters, writers, dancers, and more. In the long term, we will offer live concerts at iconic locations on Whidbey Island, the arts island of the northwest, including the popular Whidbey Island Guitar Festival that is now a part of One Moon Studio. These concerts and interviews will be available to the world, online Contact Shawn Berit |
Whidbey Island Sculpture Experience (WISE) Events
We are expanding the program’s mission to be more art event oriented, involving the Island. These event opportunities will feature local visual artists and musicians.
We have created a public sculpture destination on private property and will be hosting educational art related opportunities for artists to interact, educate, create commerce, and introduce a cultural experience for people of all ages. The goal is to provide education, to increase art awareness through events and curate tourism opportunities for the public. Contact Therese Kingsbury for more information. |
WHIDBEY ARTS MARKETING ALLIANCE (WhAMA)
Whidbey Arts Marketing Alliance is a partnership of organizations committed to promoting Whidbey Island arts and its artists' community off-island for the expansion of our market base. This is inclusive of the visual arts, music arts, performing arts, studios, events and galleries specializing in the work of Whidbey Island artists. Our goal is year-round development capable of sustaining income for our arts community members and increasing the profile of Whidbey as a cultural community that visitors can experience recreationally, with avenues for learning, teaching, and collecting with beautiful Whidbey Island as the backdrop. WhAMA created the Whidbey Island Arts & Culture website, FB, and Instagram profiles to promote the arts community. To find out more about what WhAMA has accomplished or to become involved contact Janis Saunders for information. |

WHIDBEY WORKING ARTISTS
In 2004 a small group of north central artists founded Whidbey Working Artists as a vehicle for promoting the visual arts and artists of Whidbey Island. Our mission is to share the arts and artists of Whidbey Island with the broader NW community. Whidbey Island is home to a large, vibrant, diverse community of artists. As an organization we believe that opening our studios offers visitors the opportunity to share in the process of how art is created and a glimpse of how artists inhabit their creative space. This shared experience between artists and visitors provides a stimulating creative conversation that enhances the arts while also educating and developing an appreciation for the handcrafted. For more information visit the Tour website or contact Kay Parsons |
Zakin Apprenticeship ProgramThe Zakin Apprenticeship Program honors the spirit and practice of inquiry and learning, of daily and wholly living a creative life, working and living within a community of makers. Our goal is to give our Zakin Apprentices the time to develop their work, and then the means to go out on their own with the tools in studio practice, pottery design, business practices, and the possibilities of artisan manufacturing.
