David Hundley, President
David Hundley is an accomplished commercial and international travel photographer. After earning a BFA from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA, he moved to New York City and became studio manager for J. Barry O’Rourke. After traveling the world with Barry for nearly 4 years, he moved to Paris and worked as freelance photographer. He returned to New York City and accepted a position as senior staff photographer with the packaging and design firm, Gerstman+Meyers. As his family grew, he returned to his native Seattle.
In 2019, David, his wife Abigail and their dog Cody, sold their longtime Seattle home and bought a house on 4 acres on Whidbey Island, Washington. In 2020, they completed the photo studio and he retired from Louis Dreyfus to pursue art photography full-time. His return to full-time fine art continues a journey that began at Lincoln High School in the 70’s. This journey has produced images from remote and fascinating locations, to his new Whidbey Island backyard. Now a retired professional photographer, turned fine art photographer, he is known for capturing stunning, evocative images that often focus on landscapes, nature, and the interplay of light and texture. His current fine art work reflects a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world and a mastery of composition, light, form, text, and unique abstract technique. -

Sharon Sappington, Vice President
Sharon has called Whidbey Island home since 2017. Shortly after her arrival, she accepted the role of executive director of the non-profit Island County Economic Development Council (EDC). In 2024, compelled by a desire for new challenges, she chose to step down from her impactful six-year tenure to explore new endeavors, particularly dedicating more time to the arts.
With a lifelong affinity for the arts, Sharon is delighted to serve on the board of the Whidbey Island Arts Council (WIAC) where she can contribute her talents to support local artists and further enrich the art community. She brings a wealth of multifaceted expertise in leadership, business advising, operations, finance, education, marketing, startups, turnarounds, and intercultural work. Her diverse experience spans across non-profit, for-profit, and government sectors, both domestically and internationally.
Known for her collaborative spirit, Sharon seeks to make meaningful impacts in her role, further enriching the community she loves. -

Britt McKenzie, Secretary
I am a life long artist and resident of Western Washington and enjoy advocating for and promoting the arts in my community.

Suz Shwetz, Treasurer
After 25 years away, Suzanne is thrilled to be settling back home to the PNW and her UW Dawgs! And she is grateful for the opportunity to join WIAC's mission to foster and support a diversity of arts and culture across Whidbey Island.
Suzanne brings to WIAC her professional portfolio spanning all areas of nonprofit management and governance from her careers with National Public Radio (NPR) and in the visual arts with Washington Studio School (WSS), both located in the 'other' Washington - Washington, DC. Her deep affection for the arts comes from a parent who shared the world through an artist's eye and ear. Suzanne studied drawing and painting with WSS and enjoys tickling the ivories. -

Katrina Hude, Past President
Katrina Hude lives and works on Whidbey Island in Greenbank, WA. She received a BFA from California College of Arts and Crafts and an MFA from San Jose State University, CA in Sculpture. Katrina has lived on Whidbey since 1996. She owns and operates a glassblowing studio. In addition to manifesting ideas into objects, her primary focus is to engage people in dialogue and creative practices with the intention of stimulating growth and creativity throughout the community. Being a member of the WIAC Board of Trustees is an opportunity to promote learning and encourage diversity in our local culture. The Arts are a powerful tool in our community.
-

Matt Monforte
For over 35 years, Matt has supported artists, designers, engineers, inventors, and entrepreneurs, helping them realize their visions. With a background in engineering and an ongoing study of art and design, Matt bridges the gap between visionary concepts and tangible solutions. His work has contributed to theater and stage productions, theme parks, trade shows, visitor and science centers, museums, audio and video productions, product and graphic designs—on four continents.

April Booth
April Booth moved to Whidbey Island in 2019 in search of paradise—and quickly found home. Originally from the East Coast, her path to the island began when her husband’s family relocated their llama farm, inspiring her own family to follow and put down roots.
With a unique career spanning economic development, submarine cost analysis, and nonprofit leadership, April now supports her community through healthcare while reconnecting with her passion for community involvement.
April’s love of the arts is deeply personal. Inspired by her grandmother - a talented painter and lifelong creative - she grew up surrounded by encouragement to explore and create. That influence still shapes her today, as she continues to nurture her own creativity (and hopes to one day confidently claim the title of “artist”).
Now a board member of the Whidbey Island Arts Council, April is thrilled to support and grow the island’s vibrant arts community. She believes the arts are the truest expression of life—and is passionate about helping that expression flourish across Whidbey.
